The Koneswaram Temple, perched dramatically on Swami Rock 160 metres above the sea, is one of the most important Hindu temples in Sri Lanka and one of the Pancha Ishwarams (five abodes of Shiva). The temple’s location provides breathtaking panoramic ocean views, and the site has been a place of worship since at least the 3rd century BC.
